The EvCo season began for the Tumwater and Centralia baseball teams on Thursday, and the T-Birds came away with a 13-1 victory.
The Thunderbirds got on the board first in the first inning, but the Tigers responded with an RBI double from Jake Johnson in the bottom half to tie it at one.
Tumwater’s offense took control from there, as they scored two or more in the next four innings, including three in the fourth and five in the fifth, to pull away.
Will Bond finished his day with three hits and four runs batted in, including a three-run triple, while Luke Overbay hit a two-run home run.
Derek Thompson drove in a run and collected two hits, and he also struck out five in two innings on the bump. Luke Houk and Overbay combined for three no-hit innings, striking out four.
Kadin Yeung struck out two in an inning of work for the Tigers, while Johnson’s first inning double stood at their only hit of the game.
Centralia (0-7, 0-1 2A EvCo) will look to snap its losing streak at home on Tuesday against W.F. West, while Tumwater (2-3, 0-1 2A EvCo) will return home to host Woodland next Thursday, April 3.
