The Tumwater track team hosted both Shelton and W.F. West on Tuesday, and the T-Birds came out on top in the three-team meet.

W.F. West finished second on both sides, while host Shelton finished third.

Tumwater swept all of the races on the boys side, except for the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, which were both won by W.F. West’s Hayden Niemi in 16.46 seconds and 42.51 seconds.

Blake Kirkpatrick (100), David Malroy (200), Josh Schlecht (400), Landon Anderson (800), Joshua Morgan (1,600), and Zane McAferty (3,200) were all victorious in their races to lead the T-Birds.

The T-Birds also nearly swept the field events, with the exception of the pole vault, which was won by W.F. West’s Ryan Hilliker, and the javelin, which was won by Shelton’s Bennett Henry.

Tumwater’s Malijah Tucker won both the shot put and the discus, while Aaron Paul (high jump), David Malroy (long jump), and Jack Hahn (triple jump) won one event each.

On the girls side, freshman Raya Jensen was the Bearcats’ lone winner in the races, as she won the 400 by .07 seconds over Shelton’s Addison Aldrich.

Ava Jones (100), Cassidy Hedin (200), Raegan Smith (800), Alexandra Broome (1,600), and Miriam Ore (3,200) won their races for Tumwater, and Emery Schmidt swept the hurdles races.

In the field events, W.F. West’s Amanda Bennett set a new personal record by clearing 10 feet in the pole vault, and she also finished second in the javelin.

Tumwater’s Abigail Krause (shot put), Paige Henderson (discus), McKayle Clary (javelin), Summer Coleman (high jump), Ashlyn Hufana (long jump), and Kaila Fisher (triple jump) were all victorious in their respective events.
