In its first event of 2023, the Twin City Mat Cats won the Thurston County Folkstyle Tournament at Black Hills High School with a total of 210 points, getting past Forks by 18 points.
Twin City had 14 individual title winners, 14 runner-ups, and 12 third-place wrestlers over the weekend in Tumwater.
Winners for the Mat Cats included: Kash Davis (8U 53), Chance Swartz (8U 56), Hunter Rice (8U 62), Triton Wait (8U 70), Connor Rapp (12U 108), Gunnar Vlach (12U 135), Adam Easley (12U 160), Ryker Jensen (14U 87), Gabe Alvarado (14U 102), Cody Galpin (14U 165), Benito Escalera (16U 106), Blake Burnet (16U 170), Ella Greenwood (Girls Elm 69), and Chloe Gelvin (Girls Elm 77).
