The Black Hills boys basketball team took over Aberdeen’s gym from the opening jump, exploding in the first quarter to spark a 63-41 win over the Bobcats in 2A EvCo play.
After eight minutes of play, Black Hills had a 21-2 lead on the back of four 3-pointers and six points from senior post Keagan Rongen.
The Wolves wouldn’t be able to keep the Bobcats down much longer — the hosts scored 21 points themselves in the second quarter — but then started the second half nearly as well as they started the first, going on a 16-5 run in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Rongen led the way with a dominant 18-point, 12 rebound double-double.
Simon Nysted pitched in 12 points, Johnnie Stallings added 10, and Harrison Pilon nearly hit double figures himself with nine.
Black Hills will drop out of league player for a day Monday, hosting 3A Heritage.
