Two Mat Rats win at WSWA State Championships

Two Mat Rats won gold medals at the Mat Rats Rebooted Wrestling Club at the Washington State Wrestling Assocation Fresstyle and Greco State Championships in Spokane over the weekend, headlining the 14 wrestlers that earned top-six finishes.

Kimber Wait (Girls 3-5 135) and Triton Wait (10U 94) both won their respecitve Freestyle (FS) brackets to earn the club's two gold medals, and they both also finished second in other brackets.

Kimber Wait finished second in both Girls 3-5 124 FS and 12U 135 FS/Greco (GR), while Triton Wait added a Greco silver to his Freestyle Gold.

Carter Hedden (12U 82 GR) and Myryn Phillips (10U 63 FS) also took home silver medals.



Bodee West (Girls 3-5 135 FS), Kyler Fish (14U 110 FS) and Phillips (GR) all earned bronze medals with third-place finishes.

Hedden (12U 82 FS) and Izzabella Crawford (Girls 6-8 150 FS) placed fourth, while Brooklynn West, Kyler Johnson, Patrick Gibbs, Duncan Weaver, and Camryn Reeson all finished fifth.

Charlie Wheeler, Phoebe Halsey, and Fish also added team points by placing sixth.

"Every athlete wore the Mat Rats name with pride and backed it up with action," Mat Rats Rebooted coach Tyler Ragsac said.
