It was all Toledo/Winlock United on Thursday in Tenino, as United came away with a 4-0 win.
United got on the board in the 18th minute off a goal from Kristoph Danger, and Junior Villaba doubled the advantage with a header just five minutes into the second half.
The scoreline held until the 75th minute, where Xavier Sancho made it 3-0. Just two minutes later, Preston Farington added another.
“Whenever you play the first game, you’re a little nervous,” United co-head coach Horst Malunat said. “Getting used to being away from home took us a little to get used to … We moved the ball a lot better on the turf, got our touches a little better … So I’m happy with the first game.”
Carter Nash saved all five of the shots he faced in net for the clean sheet.
United (1A Trico) and Tenino (1A Evergreen) are both in nine-team leagues, meaning the final 16 games of their regular season will be league games.
United (1-0) will return to Toledo to host Fort Vancouver on Monday, while Tenino will remain on the blacktop to face Chief Leschi on Tuesday.
