A Vader woman was hospitalized with “significant injuries” after she was attacked by a German shepherd on March 28.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office referred the incident to Lewis County Code Enforcement for the dog to possibly be designated as a dangerous animal.

According to the sheriff’s office, the 68-year-old victim was on the dog owner’s property for an expected visit; and while the German shepherd was supposed to be secured prior to her arrival, it was not. The victim was transported via ambulance to Providence Centralia Hospital and later to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma.
