Vikings Can’t Hold on to Early Lead in Loss to Comets

For the second game in a row, the Mossyrock baseball team couldn’t quite usurp Naselle, this time on the road, in a 5-2 defeat Wednesday evening.

The Vikings scored the games’ first two runs, but a three-spot in the bottom of the third and two more runs in the fourth by the Comets sealed the Vikings fate.

Easton Kolb got the start on the mound, pitching four innings with five earned runs on nine hits with a strikeout and a walk. Jake Comer came in relief and pitched two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and three walks. Kolb also went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI, and Comer added a 1 for 3 line with an RBI.

The Vikings now look ahead to one last tuneup before districts against 2B Wahkiakum Thursday.
