Vikings Come Up Short to Comets

Despite outhitting its league rivals, the Mossyrock baseball team couldn’t put any runs across in a 4-0 loss to Naselle Monday evening.

The Vikings put five hits on the board to the Comets’ four, and had the bases loaded in both the first and second inning, but couldn’t find the timely hit.

“It was a great game,” Mossy coach Darren Kolb said. “We had opportunities, but that’s baseball.”

The Vikings picked up hits from Keegan Kolb, Gunner Mulligan, Jake Comer, Marshall Brockway, and Hunter Isom. Mulligan started the game with three innings pitched, allowing four earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Easton Kolb relieved him for three more innings, allowing one hit with five strikeouts, and Comer pitched the last inning with two strikeouts.

Mossy has a short turnaround before taking on the Comets again on Wednesday at Naselle.
