Vikings Lay Hammer Down on Eagles

The Mossyrock boys basketball team blew Three Rivers Christian out of the gym early and didn’t slow down the rest of the night, logging an 85-32 win in 1B Columbia Valley League play on Thursday.

“We were able to execute on the defensive end of the floor from the tip and did not allow Three Rivers to get into a rhythm,” Mossyrock assistant coach Kelly Ross said. “That focus, combined with the fact we shot exceptionally well from the floor in the first quarter, helped us build a nice lead.”

Mossyrock dropped 31 points in that opening quarter, while holding the Eagles to just four. The Vikings led 54-18 at halftime, and proceeded to allow just five points in the entire second half.

Zackary Munoz shot an exceptional 13 for 14 from the field, scoring 13 points in the first quarter alone and finishing with a game-high 28. Keegan Kolb scored 20 points of his own, and led the Vikings on the glass with nine rebounds. Shaun Fry came off the bench and added 10 points and seven rebounds. Ten of the 11 Vikings to suit up found their way into the scoring column.

Mossyrock (3-0, 2-0 1B CVL) is slated to go to Naselle next Tuesday.
