Vikings Lock Up Third-Straight League Title

Mossyrock easily swept past Three Rivers Christian (25-16, 25-8, 25-12) to secure its third-consecutive league volleyball title at home on Monday in 1B Columbia Valley League play.

Mossyrock won the Central 2B League crown in 2019, the 1B Columbia Valley League title in 2020 and have now repeated as 1B league champs. The Vikings (14-1, 9-0 league) have now won 11-straight matches.

On Monday, Payton Torrey led the attack with a match-high 13 kills on a .667 hitting percentage to go with two aces on 100% serving.

“Payton, great hitting with an even better hitting percentage,” Mossyrock coach Alex Nelson said.



 Hailey Brooks added six kills, three digs and two aces. Paige Houghtelling finished with five kills (.500 hitting percentage), two aces and two digs, while Abbie Lovan had a team-high six digs. 

Jolee Hadaller had six aces, all in the first set, and served 100%. Caelyn Marshall pitched in a team-high 11 assists and served 100%, while Erin Cournyer had 10 assists and five aces.

“Erin had a great serving run in the second set and Abbie Lovan passed well,” Nelson said.

Mossyrock next hosts Columbia Adventist at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, then hosts Willapa Valley on Wednesday for senior night.
