For the second straight season, Centralia’s own Von Wasson is in first place after a day of competition and 18 holes at Liberty Lake Golf Course near Spokane, carding a 69 to tie for first on Day 1 of the tournament.

Wasson will tee off Wednesday in the final group at 9:06 a.m. back at Liberty Lake looking for his first state championship, after finishing fourth a year ago.

The junior is tied with Burlington-Edison’s Wyatt Brownwell and Ben Wilson after one day, with Lynden’s Logan Medcalf one stroke back in fourth.

Black Hills’ Luke Fenner is currently tied for 13th, carding a 76 after 18 holes, and will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, while the last local to make the Day 2 cut was Tumwater’s Braeden Konrad, who hit the cutoff score of 82 to qualify for the next day of action.

Konrad will tee off in the first group Wednesday at 7 a.m.

Tumwater’s Reagan Broome finished one stroke back of the cutoff at 83, and Kaden Clark carded an 89.
