It took a quarter for the Adna girls basketball team to really hit its stride, but once they did the Pirates didn’t look back in a 71-39 win over Morton-White Pass at home Wednesday.
“The first quarter we were a little bit sluggish, but the second quarter we kind of got back to ourselves and had a huge quarter,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said.
This time around, the game started on the inside for the Pirates; senior forward Karlee VonMoos put up a 21-point, 13-board double-double to lead Adna in both scoring and rebounding, helping to lead a 22-3 run in the second quarter.
“Karlee was a horse inside,” Bannish said. “Then when she got doubled in the second half, she kicked it out, and we made the majority of our threes in the second half.”
Brooklyn Loose went 3 for 3 in the second half to lead that shooting effort, and finished with 13 points. Danika Hallom finished with 16 points, Kendall Humphrey had seven points and four assists, and Gaby Guard logged six points and six assists.
McKenzee Mays put in 11 points to lead the T-Wolves; both Natalia Armstrong and Kiera Miller pitched in eight.
Adna (6-0, 3-0 C2BL) will host Toutle Lake on Friday. MWP (2-4, 1-2 C2BL) goes to Onalaska.
