After suffering a 7-1 defeat to W.F. West on Tuesday, the Rochester softball team bounced back to defeat 2A Evergreen Conference foe Black Hills, 9-7, at home Wednesday.

The Warriors’ Layna Demers blasted a grand slam over the fence in the second inning to put the home team ahead for good, and the pitching staff led by Lakota Escott and Kassidy Byrd slammed the door to finish off the win. Demers finished 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs.

Macey Fluetsch added two RBIs and batted 2 for 3. Escott finished with 5 punchouts in relief.

The Wolves dropped their second game in two days after a pitcher’s duel loss Tuesday, with Zoey Theophilus pitching every inning once again with seven strikeouts, and Sam West knocking in three runs on a 1 for 4 performance. Madison Parker also added two RBIs.

Black Hills will look to bounce back against Tumwater on Friday while the Warriors look to build momentum against Aberdeen on the road.
