Warriors Decimate Highclimbers With Dastardly Defense

Rochester held Shelton to just three points in the first half as the Warriors pounded the visiting Highclimbers to the tune of 48-10 for a 2A Evergreen Conference home victory on senior night Wednesday.

The Warriors overcame a poor night of shooting, 20 of 79 (25%), by locking down with unbreakable defense, limiting the Highclimbers to zero points in the first quarter.

Sofie Sand highlighted the Warriors’ defense with a game-high 15 rebounds and three blocks.

Offensively, the Warriors were led by Angelica Castro’s game-high 11 points — outsourcing Shelton on her own — while adding four steals and three assists.

Sadie Knutson chipped in eight points and Delany Winter and Roisin Stull each contributed six points.

“Senior night; Great to get people playing time,” Rochester coach Davina Serdahl said. “Balanced attack with another good defensive night. Offensively we got our shots off. Just need to convert, especially going into next week and potential playoffs.

Rochester (5-7, 4-5 EvCo) heads to Aberdeen on Tuesday.
