The Rochester volleyball team got out to a two-set lead on Monday at Aberdeen, but the Warriors let it slip away in a 18-25, 12-25, 25-10, 25-11, 15-13 Bobcat win.

“I think that they were feeling really good after Set 2,” Rochester coach Courtney Baird said. “We kind of just got very complacent.”

Aberdeen came out firing down 2-0, scoring the first 11 points in the third set and the first eight points in the fourth set to seize momentum.

“They never really took their foot of the gas,” Baird said. “ And we just couldn’t find our rhythm again after that.”

The fifth and final set was more back-and-forth, but the Bobcats finished off the comeback.

Baird said that the focus for the Warriors recently has been finishing off sets, and they did so by playing their best volleyball of the season in the first two sets.

“Game-wise we just couldn’t finish it out to get the W,” Baird said. “I am proud of the girls that they didn’t just give up after two straight losses.”

Arissa LeBaron led the way with 20 digs and four aces, while McKenna Vassar added four kills. Cheyenne Justice logged 17 digs, while Lexi Dupont added three blocks and Leah Hartley had a pair of blocks.

Rochester (0-7) will begin league play on Thursday at Elma.
