In another strong showing for its defense, the Rochester football team pitched a shutout in its 28-0 victory over Kingston on the road Friday.
The Warriors (2-0) again were stout defensively, holding the Buccaneer offense to a goose egg on the scoreboard and allowing the Rochester offense to navigate the game with little pressure.
“I can’t say enough about how our defense showed up,” Warriors coach AJ Easley said. “It makes it pretty easy for our offense. They played out of their minds and were flying all over the place.”
Rochester wasn’t too shabby on the offensive end either, with the offense airing it out a bit more and quarterback Tate Quarnstrom finding some success. The junior connected on two touchdowns through the air to Ethan Rodriguez and Max Mboob.
Brady Baird and Ashton Rodriguez each trotted in touchdowns on the ground as well, as the Warriors piled on over 300 yards of total offense.
The success was in spite of missing maybe their best offensive linemen, Owen Gillespie.
“Our whole offensive line did a good job,” Easley said. “They stepped up and did a good job.”
The Warriors will put their unbeaten record to the test against their first league opponent and also unbeaten Black Hills in Rochester next Friday at 7 p.m.
