After defeating Centralia earlier this season for its first league victory, the Rochester boys basketball team picked up its second 2A Evergreen Conference win and the season sweep over the Tigers Thursday night, 74-56.
The Tigers rocketed out to an early lead, outscoring the Warriors 22-11 after a quarter, led by Cohen Ballard’s hot-hand. The Centralia sharpshooter finished with a game-high 27 points, but it wasn’t enough, as the Warriors picked up steam and overtook the Tigers in the second half.
The Warriors outscored the Tigers 41-21 in the second half to run away with the win.
Nine Rochester players scored in a balanced effort, with Ashton Rodriguez (12 points), Ben Clouse (14 points), and Renz Payne (10 points) all scoring in double figures.
The Tigers, on the other hand, were led by Ballard’s 27 and Aidan Haines’ 15 points.
Rochester will look to keep it rolling against Aberdeen on Wednesday, while the Tigers take on Tumwater on the road.
