Wasson Brothers Dominate, But Rochester Comes Out On Top in County Duel

Playing to a 283-283 tie, the Centralia and Rochester golf teams had to look to their depth to see who would pull out the team win Monday afternoon in rainy conditions. Coming down to each team’s sixth golfer, and with Rochester out two of its top three golfers, the Warriors’ pulled out the win due to a tiebreaker.

But once again, eyes were on Von and Cole Wasson, who shot 38 and 39, respectively, to lead the golfers Monday afternoon.

Behind them, Rochester’s Braden Hartley (54), Rowdy Edminster (55), Johnny Childers (55), and Brady Moen (56) were next. Dealing with rainy and wet conditions throughout, both teams struggled to adjust to the incoming fall weather.

“We can shoot better, it definitely wasn’t our best day,” Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist said. “It’s a reassuring sign that we’re getting better in these conditions. We’ll have a little bit better scores as we go along.”

Rochester will head to Shelton for its next match, while Centralia takes on Black Hills next Monday.
