Wasson Takes Home 2A EvCo Crown

Centralia junior Von Wasson earned his first 2A EvCo title Tuesday, finishing a shot over par on 73 at Newaukum Valley Golf Course in Chehalis.

The junior started his outing at 1-over 37 on the front nine, carding three birdies and four bogies, before trimming a stroke off across the final holes.

Wasson finished a stroke ahead of defending champion Ben Halverstadt out of W.F. West, who finished at 74, and two shots ahead of Tumwater’s Kaden Clark, who shot a 75.

Tumwater won the team title, with Aberdeen taking a distant second and W.F. West coming in right behind the Bobcats in third.

Behind Clark, Reagan Broome finished fourth overall for the T-Birds at 80. Gabe Johnston was eighth at 84, Landon Baydo came in behind him at ninth on 85, Braeden Konrad was 11th on 87, and Nolan Campbell wrapped up the day on 103 for 24th.

For W.F. West, Weston Potter carded an 83 to take seventh. Braden Jones was 11th with a score of 87, Deacon Meller was 20th at 96, and Connor Klovdahl and Jake Remund tied for 23rd at 102.



After Wasson, Centralia’s next-best golfer was Tucker Weaver, who placed 16th with a score of 91. Brady Sprague came in next on 95 for 19th place. Caden Fitzgerald was 24th with a card at 103, and Tig Hidgers came in at 127 for 39th.

Rochester’s top finisher, Rowdy Edminster, took 24th place at 103, and Cooper Rodeheaver was five shots behind him at 108. Hyatt Longabaugh shot a 115, Cash Edminster carded a 120, Daniel Dugas finished on 124, and Riley Costantini ended at 128.

Scotty Sneen led Black Hills in 28th place at 108. Hank Venable finished at 110, Lucas Rios was a shot behind him at 111, and Ethan Badger was a shot behind Rios at 112. KC Sanquist carded a 116, and Wyatt Stevens finished at 122.

The District IV championships will take place next Monday and Tuesday at Orchard Hills Golf and Country Club in Washougal.
