The W.F. West girls basketball team beat Rochester in signature fashion, putting the clamps on the Warriors in a 60-27 win Wednesday night.

The Bearcats held their hosts under 10 points in three of the four quarters, including five points in the first and just two in the third.

Junior guard Lena Fragner scored 16 points to lead the Bearcats. Senior Morgan Rogerson had 13 points and sophomore Julia Dalan pitched in 13.

“Lena played really well, she scored in every quarter and was really consistent,” Bearcats coach Kyle Karnofski said. “She got us out in transition and got us jump started when we were stagnant.”

Karnofski also praised the play of Rogerson and Grace Simpson, who chipped in nine points off the bench and was active on defense. The Bearcats also finished 14 of 16 from the line as a team.

Hannah Kush led Rochester with six points, with Hailey Angwood and Delany Winter both scoring five.

W.F. West (3-0, 1-0 2A EvCo) will host Shelton on Friday, while Rochester (1-3, 0-1 2A EvCo) will face Tumwater at home.
