W.F. West Takes Day on Links Over Centralia

The W.F. West girls golf team put a complete day together up and down the lineup card, dominating Centralia 86-29 at Riverside Golf Course.

Natalie Eklund nearly outscored Centralia by herself, coming away with 27 points. Behind her, Abby Alexander scored 18, Kendall Rasmussen and Grace Oien both had 15, and Joy Stafford scored 11.

“To give Chehalis credit, they had all five of their scores in double figures,” Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said. “That’s going to win a lot of matches.”

It was certainly plenty Monday, with Samantha Johnston carding 15 points to be the only Tiger over 10. Emily Wilkerson came in next at seven points, Tess McMurry scored four, Elizabeth Orellana had two, and Zaira Reyes scored one.

“We just have to get better, and certainly we need to get the bottom up where we can get eight or 10 points out of them if we’re going to compete with people like Chehalis,” Gronseth said.

Both the Tigers and Bearcats will be back in action Monday, with Centralia facing Rochester and W.F. West hosting Shelton.
