W.F. West’s Carter McCoy Nabs 2A EvCo MVP

Recently-graduated W.F. West standout Carter McCoy was named the 2A Evergreen Conference MVP as announced by the league Tuesday morning.

The 6-foot-5 Lower Columbia College commit averaged 14.8 points and 11.1 rebounds while leading the Bearcats to an 11-5 overall and 9-1 league record, culminating in a district title game appearance.

Also earning all-league recognition was 6-foot-4 junior forward Dirk Plakinger, who averaged 12 points and 3.4 rebounds per game to claim second-team honors.

Joining him on the second team was a pair of seniors, forward Whalen Deskins (eight points, 4.6 rebounds per game) and guard Cade Haller (5.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists per game).

Soren Dalan, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, was named honorable mention after averaging 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Centralia earned three honorable mention selections: senior big-man Benito Valencia and juniors Brandon Yeung and Landon Kaut.

Rochester had two honorable mention picks in Caleb Vanderhoof and Tyler Klatusch.

All seven coaching staffs received the Coaching Staff of the Year Award.
