W.F. West’s Seth Hoff Wins State Javelin Title

W.F. West’s Seth Hoff brought home a championship and the Tumwater girls won a team title on Saturday as the 2A state track and field championships concluded at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tumwater.

Hoff, a senior, won the javelin with a personal-record toss of 184 feet, 2 inches, beating Hockinson’s Cody Wheeler for first place by nearly three feet.

Hoff also finished seventh in the high jump at 5-10. Aberdeen’s Andrew Troeh won the event at 6-4.

Rochester’s Talon Betts took second in the 200 meters (22.19 seconds). Sehome’s Jacob Andrews won the 200 in a meet-record 21.25. Betts also finished fourth in the 100 at a personal-best time of 10.96 seconds.

Tumwater’s boys 4x100 team finished fourth and its 4x400 team fifth. John Hoffer took sixth in the 3200 for the T-Birds at 9:24.

On the girls side, Alyssa Duncan highlighted Tumwater’s team win with a first-place finish in the triple jump, leaping 37 feet, 2.25 inches to win by more than a foot and a half. 



W.F. West’s Savanna Bolivar finished second in the event with a top jump of 35-6.5.

Tumwater’s girls team also got a win in the 4x200 relay in 1:44.67 (Mariah Jett, Annabelle Clapp, Reese Heryford and Ava Jones). The same quartet took third in the 4x400 relay, and another Tumwater squad was fourth in the 4x100.

Jones added a fourth-place finish in the 100 and took third in the 200, while Clapp was second in the 400 (59.24). 

Natalie Sumrok finished sixth in the shot put for the T-Birds (35-7.5).

W.F. West’s Elaina Koenig finished eighth in the 800 (2:23.52), which was won by Sequim’s Riley Pyeatt and seventh in the 300 hurdles (49.40). Sadie Dahlin was seventh in the pole vault at 8-6.
