Five Lewis County girls representing the Winlock Dance Center participated at the Spotlight Dance Cup regional competition at the Tacoma Convention Center on Saturday, Feb. 22, according to a news release from the dance center.
The girls performed a lyrical dance number to the song “The Voice Within” and, against several other groups, won first place overall in the junior small group division.
This was their first competition competing as a team and they will be participating in two more this season, one in April at the Portland Convention Center, and the other in Seattle in May, according to the release.
“They have held a handful of fundraiser events to help with entry fee, costume and travel expenses and would like to thank the community for their support on their road to success,” the release stated “Their coach and choreographer Robin Brumley is extremely proud of their hard work and dedication.”
The girls included Karlee Ward, Audrey Burbank, Sophie Meyle, Lilly Hughes and Kyli Sorensen.
