Winlock drops fourth straight in loss to Northwest Christian

Winlock scored the first two touchdowns of its matchup against Northwest Christian (Lacey) on Friday, but the Cardinals gave up 44 unanswered after those two scores and fell 44-15 at Beaver Stadium in Tenino.

Camren Cusson scored the first touchdown on a 12-yard run midway through the first, and Carter Svenson made it 15-0 with an 86-yard touchdown run just over three minutes into the second.

The Wolverines scored twice before the break and converted both two-point conversions to take a 16-15 lead, and they added two more touchdowns in the third and fourth to blow it open.

Svenson finished with 113 yards on the ground, and Cusson finished with 67. NWC was led by sophomore Jacob Kearns, who ran for 303 yards and scored four times.

Winlock (1-4, 1-3 1B Southwest) will try to get back in the win column next Friday, Oct. 10 at home against Oakville.
