Winlock Retains School Employees, Will Reconsider at End of School Year

The Winlock School Board has decided to table a proposal to terminate five employees and return to the issue at the end of the school year.

Charlie Tuckness, the executive assistant at the Winlock School District, confirmed the decision to The Chronicle by email. The employees include three behavioral intervention specialists, a migrant support coordinator and a facilities employee.

Tuckness also confirmed Garry Cameron resigned as Winlock School District superintendent, effective Feb. 24.

The proposed staff cuts were the subject of a marathon school board meeting that stretched into the wee morning hours last month as parents, students and staff advocated for the positions to be retained.
