The Winlock School Board announced it is seeking public input on two potential candidates who have come forward to be the Winlock School District’s new superintendent, according to a school board news release.

“Their dedication to our district’s values and educational mission is evident, and we are eager to involve the community in the selection process to ensure alignment with our collective aspirations,” the release stated.

The news release didn’t include the names of the finalists.

Public participation will take place in three steps, the first being questions submitted via the school district’s website at https://www.winlockschools.org/page/superintendent-search.  Deadline for submissions is noon on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

The Winlock School Board will review submitted questions and choose three to ask during its interview process.

The second is a public interview session that will be held during a special school board meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. in the Winlock Middle/High School’s media room, located at 241 N. Military Road in Winlock.

Following this meeting, access will be provided to allow public participants to select their preferred candidate.

“Your input will be considered seriously by the board in making this important decision,” the release stated.

Finally, the Winlock School Board will convene for its regular meeting on Jan. 17 to gather additional public input and hold an executive session to deliberate public input received along with the board’s own interview process.

“Your engagement and feedback are crucial in selecting the individual who will steer the future of our district’s educational journey,” the release stated. “We encourage all community members to participate and have their voices heard.”

“Our current superintendent, Bob Garrett, has done an amazing job and we would like to thank him for all of his efforts,” the district wrote.
