Trailing Shelton 56-55 with 8.5 seconds to go, Back Hills missed a 3-pointer, got the offensive rebound, missed an inside shot, got another offensive board and kicked it outside to Luke Ellison, who hit a game-winning 3-point shot with a tenth of a second left to capture a 58-56 road victory Friday.
Ellison finished with a game-high 32 points, while Keagan Rongen added 13 points, Andre Byoune chipped in seven and Johnnie Stallings tallied six.
Black Hills hosts Tumwater in the second round of the annual rivalry match on Tuesday.
