Holding Rochester to just 18 points in the first half, the Black Hills boys basketball team got out and ran to an early lead and never looked back in a 74-54 win Tuesday night on the road.
The Wolves were led by a trio of double-digit scorers in Keagen Rongen (22), Johnnie Stallings (18), and Simon Trujillo-Nysted (14) in the dominant win — running out to a 33-18 halftime lead before putting the game firmly away in the fourth on a 23-15 swing.
The Warriors, meanwhile, picked things up in the third after a slow first half, but couldn’t get enough stops down the stretch to make things interesting.
Jyson and Brayden O’Connor co-led the Warriors with 11 points a piece.
The Warriors will hope to rebound against Aberdeen next Monday, while the Wolves take on crosstown rival and 2A No. 4 Tumwater at home on Friday looking for an upset.
