The Black Hills volleyball team made the quick drive south the Rochester and got going fast against the Warriors, sweeping their way to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-17 win in 2A EvCo play Tuesday.

Ava Klovas had 12 aces for the Wolves, while Alex Loveless added eight, as Black Hills caught Rochester in a couple serve-receive rotations the Warriors had a tough time getting out of.

Loveless also dished out 24 assists, with Payton Childers leading the offense with nine kills and Ashley Harris and Ava Bauer both adding seven.

For Rochester, which honored seniors Kassidy Byrd, Roisin Stull, Lauren Rotter, Hailey Angwood, and Kylee Wild before the match, the slow start was a tough one to bounce back from.

“We had senior night, so we had a lot of emotion,” Warriors coach Bridget Morris Said. “So it took us a little bit to get going.”

Stull had a pair of kills for Rochester, while Byrd led the defense with six digs.

Rochester (4-12, 3-8 2A EvCo) will travel to Centralia to end its regular season on Thursday. Black Hills (11-3, 10-1 2A EvCo) will take a five-match winning streak back home, where it’ll face Tumwater with a league title shot on the line.
