Toledo’s Conner Hill added another win to his resume, coming in first by more than 70 seconds at a Trico League Meet in Castle Rock on Wednesday.
At 15:56.19, Hill was not only the only racer to break the 16-minute mark, but he was also the only racer to break the 17-minute mark. His time was a full 71 seconds better than the next closest finisher, Max Moran from Seton Catholic.
Parker Hill was the next-best male Toledo finisher, placing 32nd at 20:13.26, but three female Riverhawks finished in the top 30 in the girls race.
Braelyn Nyberg earned a top-10 finish, placing sixth with a time of 21:50.53, just seven seconds out of the top five. Lilly Cooper finished 16th by clocking a 23:22.99, and Audrey Cooper rounded out the top 30 at 26:01.26.
Black Hills’ Thomasson victorious in EvCo Meet
Black Hills’ Seth Thomasson came out on top in a three-team EvCo Meet on Wednesday, clocking a 17:46.25 to win a race that featured runners from Black Hills, Shelton, and W.F. West.
Thomasson was one of three Wolves to finish in the top 10 in the boys race, along with Roberto Jesus (19:02.74), who finished fifth, and Nathan Brazill (19:09.37), who placed seventh.
Four Bearcats earned a top-10 finish, including David Moeckel (18:08.86) and Connor Clary (18:10.13), who finished less than two seconds apart at third and fourth.
Adam Butterfield (19:08.60) finished sixth, and Mason Ruiz (19:18.16) placed ninth.
W.F. West’s Azami Bortoletto was the top local finisher in the girls race, as she placed second at 21:21.63. Bortoletto was part of a photo finish at the front of the pack, as her, Shelton’s Madison Lohmeyer, and Shelton’s Hailee Nadeau all finished within nine-tenths of a second of each other.
Fellow Bearcats Kate Turner (21:53.89) and Shaylee Miles (25:36.46) were the other Bearcats to finish in the top 10, placing fourth and ninth, respectively.
Black Hills had four runners finish in the top 10, including Averie Reynolds (21:54.39), who placed fifth, Maddie Knight (22:04.37) and Jane Birchard (23:30.67), who finished seventh and eighth, and Adeline Rice (25:47.41), who rounded out the top 10.
Centralia’s Weiher, Tumwater’s Broome finish second in Aberdeen
Centralia’s Ethan Weiher and Tumwater’s Alexandra Broome both finished second in their respective races on Wednesday, when Tumwater and Centralia headed to Aberdeen for a three-team EvCo meet.
Weiher finished in 17:23.89 to finish second ahead of four Thunderbirds — Zane McAferty (17:24.66), Hayden Newman (17:37.59), Tyler Clark (17:44.02), and Landon Martin (17:45.59) — that finished in spots three through six.
Centralia’s Evan Thummel finished seventh and 17:56.47, and Tumwater’s Will Zahn (18:33.10) and Noah Pickard (18:49.27) finished ninth and tenth.
Broome finished in 20:35.51 ahead of three Tigers — Elyse O’Dell (21:12.77), Eva Stout (21:14.52), and Liesl Stout (21:19.73) — that finished in third, fourth and fifth.
Tumwater’s Brooklyn Schenck took seventh at 24:00.10, and Centralia’s Eden Hansen (24:06.92), Andi Voetberg (24:12.95) and Anna Jones (25:04.90) took spots eight through ten.
