Zard’s Big Second Half Propels Trojans

Jesse Zard scored 22 of his game-high 24 points in the second half and finished with a team-high 12 rebounds as Pe Ell held off Columbia Adventist for a 59-47 road win in 1B Columbia Valley League action Tuesday.

Pe Ell was in double bonus just six minutes and 50 seconds into the game and overcame the early foul trouble, holding the Kodiaks to just 15 second-half points to secure the victory.

“Very pleased with how we responded after a dismal first half,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. We have been struggling in the second half all year, but not tonight.”

Kaidan Perkins added five points and Carter Phelps chipped in three as the Trojans picked up their first league victory of the season.

Pe Ell (4-5, 1-3 1BCVL) hosts Three Rivers Christian on Thursday in another league matchup.
