Challenger Holmes leads incumbent McDougall in Centralia School Board race on election night

Challenger Sarah Holmes was leading incumbent Mandi McDougall in the race for position 4 on the Centralia School Board as of election night. 

Preliminary results released at 8:06 p.m. on Tuesday indicated Holmes had 52.05% of the vote, with 1,686 ballots to her name; while McDougall held 46.9% of the vote, or 1,519 votes. A total of 34 votes have gone to a write-in candidate. 

McDougall is seeking a second term on the board. The candidate who wins the election will serve a four-year term on the board.

For the two uncontested Centralia School Board races, Andrea Ware had 2,298 votes to her name for position 3 on election night, and Maritza Bravo had 2,322 votes to her name for position 2. 



The preliminary count included the results of 13,338 ballots. The Lewis County Auditor’s Office estimated there were still 701 ballots left to count on election night, with an estimated total voter turnout of 24.15%. 

The next ballot count will be released at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Election certification will take place on Nov. 28.
