In loving memory of Grace Born: 1923-2024

Posted

After living more than 101 years, Grace Geraldine (Albright) Born changed her earthly address for her heavenly address when she passed away on Aug. 23, 2024.

She is alive now more than ever as she is living in the presence of God. To our family, Grace will always be remembered as “Amazing Grace” who epitomized offering grace and mercy to all.

She was born on June 13, 1923, in Lemmon, South Dakota, to Lester Albright and Hazel McKim Albright. Grace was the fifth born of nine children. All are deceased except her sister, Theola Owen, Chehalis, Washington. Grace has 27 living nieces and nephews.

Grace’s parents moved their family West in 1934 from South Dakota. They moved to the Boistfort Valley in 1942. On Nov. 18, 1945, at the Boistfort Community Church, Grace married Jack Born, who owned the farm next door. They raised four sons and two daughters, Ed, Bob, Jim, Gerri, David and Diane. Jack passed away in 2009. Shirley Mueller, a foster daughter, passed away in 2020. Grace has 14 grandchildren and at last count 42 great-grandchildren.

Grace worked over 30 years for the Weyerhaeuser Company in the tree regeneration branch beginning in 1965. She retired at the age of 74 in 1997 as a seed lab technician at Rochester, Washington. She has been connected to the Boistfort Community Church since 1942 and especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School children. She has been a supporter of the Baw Faw Grange, Boistfort School, Lions Club, Fire District No. 13, Christian traditional values and the Washington School for the Deaf.

At 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, there will be a memorial service at the Boistfort Community Church followed by a community potluck at the Baw Faw Grange. Meat entrée, green salad, rolls and beverages are provided. You are invited to bring a side dish of your choosing.
