Kathleen (Kathy) Marie Good, of Curtis, Washington, passed away on Oct. 26, 2026. She lived a life devoted to her love of horses, her family and the many people whose lives she touched along the way.
Kathy grew up in Olympia, Washington, and went to Olympia High School. She lived her dream alongside her beloved husband, Richard (Dick) Good, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
An avid animal lover, horses were the great love of Kathy’s life. Together, Kathy and Dick operated two horse stables, one in Olympia and their most recent home in the beautiful Boistfort Valley. Through Horse Haven Stables and Kathy Good Training, Kathy dedicated her life to breeding and training horses, teaching horsemanship and riding lessons, and sharing her knowledge and passion with others.
Kathy was a gifted teacher and a loving leader of the Flying Hoofs 4-H Club. She taught hundreds of people, especially children, not only how to ride and care for horses but also how to appreciate and respect these wonderful animals. Her influence reached far beyond the stables and show rings. Kathy and Dick mentored countless young people, helping shape their lives in meaningful and lasting ways.
Kathy proudly showed horses throughout British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and as far away as Oklahoma. She was a member of the "Pinto Horse Association of America", "The Pinto Horse Association of Western Washington" and the "American Paint Horse Association", reflecting her lifelong dedication to the horse community.
The legacy Kathy leaves behind is measured not only in the horses she bred and trained or the lessons she taught but in the hundreds of lives she and Dick helped shape. Many have expressed how profoundly their guidance, encouragement and kindness influenced their lives for the better. The love and knowledge Kathy shared will continue to live on through those she taught and inspired.
Kathy will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Dick, and the many friends, students and members of the horse community who were fortunate enough to know her.
Though she is no longer with us, Kathy’s spirit will live on in the horses she loved, the people she mentored and the countless memories made throughout a life well lived. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication and a passion for horses that will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Kathy. You lived your dream, shared your love and made a lasting difference in so many lives. You will be missed by all of us.
A graveside service was held on Nov. 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. A memorial will be held at a later date.
