People from throughout the community came together at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Sunday, March 3, to raise funds in support of Providence Regional Cancer Center in Centralia and the Red Rose Animal Rescue in Rochester.

The fourth annual “We Love Animals and Hate Cancer” Bowling Tournament raised over $12,000, which was split equally between the two nonprofits. The event was organized by Ron Keller and Barbara Overlin.

Bowlers paid a fee to the Lewis County Bowling Association to participate in one or two mixed doubles. The event included a silent auction of local goods and services. Both recipient organizations, Providence Southwest Washington Foundation and Red Rose Animal Rescue, were in attendance with information about their organizations.

Next year’s event is already in the planning stages. Because of this year’s success, a two-day tournament may take place in 2025.

The Providence Southwest Washington Foundation works with donors to fulfill their wishes and benefit cancer patients and their families. The benches outside the Centralia center were paid for from the proceeds of last year's bowling event.

Other items that come from the fund include gas cards for patients who would be unable to make appointments without them.
