Officials have identified the two men they say shot and killed each other during an argument earlier this week in Parkland.

Jordan Copley, 18, and Robert Daly-Romero, 41, shot each other at a bus stop Tuesday across from James Sales Elementary School near 112th Street South and 12th Avenue South, deputies say.

Both deaths were ruled as homicides. The medical examiner's office said Copley was shot in the face, and Daly-Romero was shot in the chest.

When deputies arrived around 11:30 a.m., one man was already dead and another in critical condition. Paramedics tried to save him, but he died 10 minutes after police arrived.

A victim's red bicycle was left in the street near the crime scene. It's unclear how the altercation started or if anyone else was involved, deputies say.

Shortly after the shooting, investigators were in the neighborhood knocking on doors and speaking with witnesses. The case is open and ongoing, said Pierce County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Darren Moss.

School has not started back at James Sales Elementary. The district's online calendar says classes start next week.

Moss told reporters at the scene that the department is seeing a concerning amount crime and gun violence among young adults.

"Community groups need to step in and start guiding these kids in the right direction," Moss said in a phone interview. "Start inviting us to come out and talk to youth."

Just a day after Moss aired his worries of a rise in gun violence among young adults, two boys were arrested for allegedly shooting a Tacoma Police officer on Hosmer Street. The boys are 14 and 15 years old.

"Why is that a thing right now? Why are kids doing all of this crazy stuff?" Moss said. "Something is going on in the community where kids think it's OK to pick up guns and shoot at cops."
