1A Track: Gavin Watson Lone Beavers’ Winner at Districts

Tenino junior Gavin Watson was the lone winner for the Beavers, capturing the boys long jump with a personal-record leap of 19-11.75, at the 1A District 4 Track and Field Championships at Seton Catholic High School in Vancouver, Washington on Friday,

Montesano won the boys meet with 137 points, while the Beavers finished 10th with 25 points.

Sophomore Blaine Schott placed sixth in the boys 400-meter run with a PR of 57.49, while sophomore Andres Zamudio tossed the discus for a PR of 109-01 to place fourth. Senior Nathan Chiella rounded out the scoring by throwing the shot put 36 feet even for a fifth-place finish.

Junior Trevi Snodderly placed eighth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:29.89. Junior Braxton Williams finished eighth in the 3200 with a PR (11:49.76).

The Beavers’ 4x400 relay of Schott, Snodderly, Williams and Sam Hill came in eighth with a time of 4:14.41.



Tenino girls had two girls place top-eight and score points to place 10th as a team with 12 points. Montesano girls won the team title with 135 points.

Tenino senior Molly Craig claimed third place in the girls discus with a throw of 88-07, while sophomore Trinity Tafoya placed fourth in the shot put with a PR toss of 30 feet even.

On the boys side, Montesano also won with 107 points. Tenino boys placed ninth with 11 points.
