1B Outlook: Acorns looking for another building block year in 2026

Posted

The Oakville softball team snapped an eight-year losing streak last season with a wild win over Wishkah Valley, and the Acorns went on to finish the season with three wins.

With only Vivi Cruz gone from last year’s group, the Acorns are hoping to take another step forward in 2026.

Raven Blackwell and Riyah Filitaula are back, as are Lakota Blackwell, Ui’lani Siufanua and Susie Klatush.

The Acorns will open their season on Monday, March 30 against Ocosta, and they will host Winlock the next day, Tuesday, March 31, for their home opener. A rematch with Wishkah Valley is set for April 14 in Aberdeen.

Oakville seeking return to district tournament

The Oakville baseball team earned the fifth and final spot in the 1B District 4 Tournament last spring, and the Acorns won a game before falling one win shy of the state tournament.

To get back this spring, Oakville will have to fill the shoes of several seniors who graduated last spring, including Daniel Rodas, Dre Kluth, and Koner Burnett.

Gio Rodas, Joseph Charles, and Andres Rhoades are expected to take on those leadership roles and lead the Oakville lineup.

The Acorns are set to open their season on Tuesday in Mossyrock, and they will host Naselle in their home opener on Thursday.
