A mother and son were found dead inside a home on the Key Peninsula, Pierce County officials said Tuesday.
A man came home from work around 1:27 p.m. and found his wife, son and dog dead in a bedroom with gunshot wounds, according to a blotter post.
The man told investigators the son, who had spent the night with them, struggled with addiction and mental health issues. Sheriff's deputies recovered a weapon and there are no outstanding suspects, the blotter said.
The sheriff's office did not provide more specific information about the home's location. A spokesperson for the sheriff's office did not immediately respond to additional questions about the deaths.
