2Bs kick off in Rainier

Eleven B schools met up at Rainier Elementary School on Thursday for the Central 2B Kick-Off, starting the small-school cross country season in southwest Washington.

Toledo’s Treyton Marty beat a field of 63 runners in the boys’ race by over a minute, covering the 5,000-meter course in 16:59.18. Adna’s Jordan Stout came in second at 18:10.38, with Winlock’s Chase Trodahl (18:35.70) in third, MWP’s Hunter Brackett (18:39.60) in fourth, and Rainier’s Zach Hamilton (18:53.18) rounding out the top five.

Onalaska’s duo of Isaac Fitch (19:46.76) and Conner Blair (19:48.62) came in one after the other for sixth and seventh, respectively, leading the Loggers to a team win. Onalaska also put Cole Russon (20:19.80) in the top-10 at ninth, Riley Carter (21:17.73) at 15th, and Taden Miller (21:47.49) at 18th.

Etham Wedam led the Mossyrock boys with a 17th-place finish in 21:42.30, and Napavine’s Landon Engelbertson ran the course in 23:07.05.



On the girls’ side of things, it was just about all Rainier. Junior Madison Ingram won the race in 22:37.62, with teammate Angelica Askey taking second at 23:24.56. After Onalaska’s Melissa Reiman was third at 23:59.26, it was time for two more Mountaineers, in Rayanna Wisner (24:27.96) and Ella Marvin (24.59.18)

Mossyrock’s Joan Wedam was sixth with a time of 25:22.13, at which point two more Rainier runners came across, with Kinsley Barley rounding out the hosts’ team score with a seventh-place finish at 27:28.17, and Raychel Hansen coming in eighth at 28:07.54.

Victoria Sancho led Winlock in 12th with a time of 28:42.38, just ahead of teammate Natalie Cardenas Hernandez. Adna’s Megan Price and Megan Stout finished together at 28:50.04 and 28:50.24, respectively. 

Abigail Sympson led the MWP girls with a time of 32:28.88.
