The 3-year-old Beaverton-area boy reported missing this week after his mother didn’t bring him back to his father has been found safe.

Mari Cruz Martinez dropped the boy off at the Lake Oswego home of a “trusted individual,” Beaverton police said. A Washington County judge had recently granted temporary custody to the boy’s father and the court concluded that the child was in “immediate danger” with the mother, police said.

After dropping the boy off, Martinez “fled the area,” police said. She was later located and taken into custody. The boy was reunited with his father.

Martinez was booked on charges of custodial interference and kidnapping, police said.
