Hosted by the Washington Bluegrass Association, the 40th annual Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Festival will provide a weekend full of entertainment and workshops in the Toledo High School commons.
The festival will begin on Friday, Aug. 9, at 3 p.m. with an open mic session. The night will continue with performances by the Oly Mountain Boys, Portland Radio Ponies and Farm Strong.
On Saturday, Aug. 10, workshops will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a band scramble, a lunch break and performances throughout the day until 7:45 p.m.
The workshops include banjo, dobro, vocals, fiddle, the Nashville number system, guitar, bass, mandolin and sound. All workshops are hosted by a different musician or band and last for one hour.
On Sunday, Band of Friends will start the day with a performance at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Oly Mountain Boys at 10:15 a.m. and Terry Enyeart & Steelhead closing out the festival at 11:15 a.m.
Dry camping will be available for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night for $30. Campers must arrive after 9 a.m. on Thursday. Showers are available. Pets are allowed but must be on a leash at all times.
A weekend event pass costs $45, a day pass for Friday costs $25, an all day pass for Saturday costs $30. A pass for Saturday after 4 p.m. costs $25. Sunday is free.
