91-Year-Old Oregon Woman Raises Enough to Retire With Crowdfunding Campaign

A 91-year-old woman from Medford, Oregon, has created a GoFundMe so she can retire and enjoy spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“I’ve even got a great-great grandchild,” Betty Glover told KDVR. She has been working as a cashier at the South Medford WinCo for a decade but said she has been working all her life.

“I’m used to working, and I hate the thought of not working,” she told the southern Oregon news station. But Betty wants to prioritize her family, so she started a GoFundMe when a coworker suggested it. Glover wanted to raise $40,000 to pay off her last big expense before she retired: the fifth wheel she lives in.

Donations have rolled in and Glover told KVDR that she’s awestruck by the generosity.

“I’m speechless,” she said. “I didn’t think for a minute that people would be that generous. Even if it’s whatever that they can afford, it’s amazing that they give it to me.”

She turns 92 in May and is looking forward to spending the rest of her life in retirement with her grandchildren.

Here’s the link to Glover’s GoFundMe. As of Wednesday afternoon, Glover had raised more than $48,000.
