The Lewis County branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its May program on May 4 at The Gathering Place at Stillwater Estates at 6:30 p.m. The estates are located at 1165 Stillwater Ave. in Centralia.

Gretchen Staebler, the author of “Mother Lode: Confessions of a Reluctant Caregiver,” will discuss the ups and downs of family caregiving and her experiences writing and publishing her memoir.

According to the AAUW, in 2012, Staebler left her home in the Southeast where she had lived for 36 years and returned to her childhood home in the Pacific Northwest.

“Her plan to assist her 96-year-old mother for one year goes awry as she takes a deep dive into place, relationship, health care and old-old age,” the AAUW said.

All are welcome to attend. Social time will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. with the program beginning at 7.
