The American Association of University Women of Lewis County (AAUW) is preparing to host its seventh annual LUNAFEST film festival at Centralia College’s Corbet Theater on April 29, according to a news release.

The festival will show seven short films with a combined run-time of 95 minutes. The films are created by women or focus on them.

“Featured filmmakers are from all walks of life and range from poets to conservationists, activists and educators,” according to the release. “Their stories remind us that when we come together, we all move forward.”

While people are welcome to attend in person, an online viewing will also be available. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/3GXCYW1.

Proceeds from LUNAFEST benefit Hope Alliance of Lewis County, which supports survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as the AAUW’s Women Supporting Women scholarships.

Doors open for the festival at 1 p.m. for a basket raffle and socializing hour, then the films will begin at 2 p.m. Those attending virtually will have 48 hours to view the films starting at 1 p.m. on April 29.

Corbet Theater is located at 600 Centralia College Blvd. in Centralia.

LUNAFEST was originally created in 2001 as the world’s first all-women traveling film festival. Over the past 22 years, it has shown the work of more than 175 filmmakers at over 2,900 screenings and raised over $7 million for nonprofits in the U.S. and Canada.
