Acorns Edged by Rangers on the Road

Oakville nearly pulled off the comeback but was unable to complete it in a 6-5 loss to Quilcene on the road Saturday.

Hazen Cayenne kept the Acorns in it with a solid outing on the mound, striking out eight Rangers in five innings of work to finish with a no-decision.

“Hazen had himself a day,” Oakville coach Conor Bensen said.



Cayenne also excelled at the plate, going 2 for 3with an RBI and a run. Dre Kluth tossed two strong innings of relief with five strikeouts.

Jeremy Wilbur extended his hit streak to two games, Shayden Baker had his first triple of the year and threw two innings of relief, while Danny Rodas had a double with multiple runs.

Oakville (1-4) hosts Naselle on Wednesday and Mossyrock on Thursday, both starting at 4 p.m.
