Acorns roll over Warriors behind star-studded performances

The usual showcase of Gio and Daniel Rodas took place offensively, but the Oakville-North River defense, led by senior Dre Kluth, allowed zero points in a 50-14 romp over Chief Leschi on Friday night.

The only two times the Warriors found the end zone was on turnovers. Kluth was the star on that side of the ball, posting an eye-popping stat line of 15 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

ONR (2-1) jumped out to a 16-0 cushion after one frame and turned a 14-point lead at the half into 35-plus behind a pair of Gio touchdown passes to Daniel, a Ben Kimbrel 55-yard dash and Daniel running one in for 10 yards.

Gio finished with four touchdown passes, three to his brother. Daniel nabbed 12 catches for 198 yards while Kimbrel tallied 210 yards of total offense. Jordan Eichelburger notched two interceptions for the Acorns.

Week 4 will be another Class 1B Southwest tussle with Wahkiakum on the road.
