Rachel White, of Adna High School, will be performing in a New Year’s Day parade in London, England, with more than 650 high school drum majors, cheerleaders and dancers.

White was awarded the opportunity after being selected as an All-American at a Varsity Spirit summer camp. Those camps include representation by the Universal Cheerleaders Association, Universal Dance Association, National Cheerleaders Association, National Dance Alliance and United Spirit Association. All-American status is awarded based on quality of performance and leadership skills. Only the top 10 percent of the more than 325,000 participants at the camps are selected to perform in the New Year’s parade.

The parade theme will be “Showtime!” and will consist of 10,000 performers representing 20 countries. The parade is watched by more than 300 million people worldwide each year.

“This is the 30th year we’ve been able to bring these talented cheerleaders, dancers and drum majors to London, where they can showcase their skills to a very enthusiastic international audience, and explore the rich cultural heritage of this great city,” noted Mike Fultz, the international event coordinator for Varsity Spirit, in a press release.

Participants will also be afforded a chance to tour London’s historic sites during their seven-day stay.

Through the press release, White said, “I am so excited and grateful for this opportunity. I appreciate all the support I am receiving from my family, friends and band. I look forward to representing Adna and the United States in London next January.”
